Location: Arua, Adjumani and Yumbe (West Nile), Uganda
Duration: 7 Months (June – December 2019)
World Vision Uganda Jobs 2019: The Community Facilitator will be responsible for project implementation of field livelihood activities, mainly focusing upon farmer group capacity development in the settlement. S/He will build the capacity of the farmer groups through training and field follow up. S/He will work closely with OPM and other actors in actively addressing farmer skills development, production, processing and marketing issues. The Project Officer – Livelihoods also works closely with leadership structures of both refugees and host communities (Sub-county agricultural offices, Community development officers, LC, RWC, religious and traditional leaders) in regard to livelihoods. The Project Officer under the direct supervision of the Project Manager will ensure that activities are approved, implemented, monitored and reported according to agreed project plans in line with the donor and World Vision Uganda (WVU) policies. Will be directly involved in the implementation of project activities will be based in Arua, Adjumani and Yumbe.
Project Implementation and sustainability
Participatory selection of beneficiaries, prioritization of cash for work activities, life skills awareness raising, and capacity building of the groups.
Responsible for the day-to-day community mobilization, awareness creation, training and practical demonstrations of environment protection and energy saving technologies.
Participating in the distribution of Cash for Work tools, seedlings and livelihood support materials
Mobilize local leaders during planning meetings, workshops and other fora and collaborate with Local Government, OPM, UNHCR and relevant stakeholders in the Program Area.
Report on the project progress on a weekly basis
Any other role assigned by the line manager
Community engagement and advocacy
Identify project beneficiaries in collaboration with Local structures and in accordance with the laid down guidelines/rules and timeframe.
Coordinate project activities with sub-county authorities, government extension agents and other partners at the community level.
Ensure vulnerable households are mobilized, organized and strengthened into strong business groups
Attend community coordination meeting as directed by the project officer
Documentation, Reporting and knowledge management
Document and maintain records pertaining to training, cash for work activities forward issues to management for decisions and appropriate action in line with WVU policies.
Record daily attendance and participation of cash for work beneficiaries
Write up accurate and timely reports pertaining to all planned activities in the required format and submit to the Project Officer
Ensure Care givers/Foster parents of unaccompanied Refugee children are members of cash for work activities and are accessing business developments services.
Participate in reflection meetings organized by Child Monitors and guardians/parents and child protection committees to address findings from monitoring.
Child Protection and Wellbeing
Monitor wellbeing and child abuse cases at cash for work sites and report any incidents in line with child protection policy and guidelines.
Work with local leaders to protect children from child violations and abuses
Sensitize children including most vulnerable, guardians/parents and other stakeholders about children’s rights and responsibilities.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical Skills and Experience
Minimum of Certificate in agriculture or agribusiness or forestry or development studies or any other relevant discipline.
Experience of the local context of West Nile is an added advantage
Outstanding knowledge of facilitation/training skills and process skills
Writing and reporting skills
Networking and influencing skills
Ability to communicate in the applicable local language(s) is an added advantage
Passion for children.
Track record demonstrating high integrity, reliability and dependable
Ability to work with minimal supervision
