Ministry of Information and Communication Technology Profile:
The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and National Guidance was established in June 2006 with a mandate of providing strategic and technical leadership, overall coordination, support and advocacy on all matters of policy, laws, regulations and strategy for the ICT sector. It also ensures sustainable, efficient and effective development, harnessing and utilization of ICT in all spheres of life to enable the country to achieve its national development goals. The Ministry is headed by a Minister who is assisted by two Ministers of State. There are three Directorates namely; the Directorate of ICT Infrastructure and Investment,
Roles and Responsibilities
The incumbent will be responsible to the Senior Information Technology Officer for performing the following duties:-
- Providing technical support in the operationalization of the E-services function;
- Assisting in the operationalization and application of E-services to improve efficiency and effectiveness;
- Undertaking the provision of technical support on E-services, policies, strategies, procedures and other ICT related issues;
- Undertaking the monitoring and evaluation of the progress and performance of E-services and identifying alternative solutions;
- Undertaking the implementation of Departmental Workplans and Reports;
- Undertaking technical initiatives in regard to E-services and other related ICT activities;
- Operationalizing implementations of hardware and software initiatives to ensure proper functioning and maintenance of ICT equipment across Government;
- Undertaking programs to promote harmonized development and implementation of E-services and related ICT systems;
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants should be Ugandans in possession of an Honours Bachelors’ Degree in Computer Science; or Information Technology; or Software Engineering; or Management Information Systems; or Statistics/Mathematics (Computer Science option) or other relevant qualifications from a recognized University / Institution. At least one Industry Certification such as CCNA; or OCP; or MCSE; or Information Security and Systems Audit will be an added advantage
- Age: Above 21 years
